Comeback Cooker

For the response that arrived three hours too late.

Still replaying something someone said? Tell us what happened, what they said if you remember it, and who you were dealing with. Comeback Cooker gives you several ways you could have answered — from satisfying to sharp to actually useful.

Overview

Comeback Cooker is for the remark that keeps replaying after the moment has passed. Describe what happened, quote the exact words if you remember them, say who the person is to you, and choose a mood: Surgical, Witty, Petty, or Dignified. It gives you five comeback ideas, a High Road option, and an intentionally over-the-top Nuclear Option kept in the fantasy drawer so the tool can be satisfying as well as useful.

How to use it

  1. Describe what happened
  2. Add the exact words if you remember them and the relationship if it changes what would land
  3. Choose Surgical, Witty, Petty, or Dignified
  4. Read the five comeback ideas and the High Road option
  5. Reveal the Nuclear Option only when you want the cathartic version that is better enjoyed than sent

Example

Scenario: At a family gathering, an in-law makes the same intrusive comment they have made before.

What you do: Quote the comment, identify the relationship, and choose Witty or Surgical.

Result: You get five different comeback ideas grounded in the comment, a short High Road response that may be more usable in real life, and an optional fantasy-drawer line that is allowed to go much further for comic relief.
