Decoder Ring

Decode what they actually mean beneath what they said

Paste any confusing message and get a layer-by-layer breakdown of the subtext, emotional undercurrent, what they actually want, red/green flags, and 3 response strategies with copyable examples.

Overview

Decoder Ring uses AI to analyze the pragmatics, subtext, and emotional undercurrent beneath any message. It identifies passive aggression, hedging, power moves, emotional bids, non-answers, and genuine warmth — then generates response strategies tailored to your situation.

How to use it

  1. Paste the exact message you received — wording and tone matter
  2. Select where it came from (text, email, Slack, dating app, etc.)
  3. Choose your relationship to the sender for context
  4. Add backstory if the message is ambiguous
  5. Review the translation, emotional read, decoded layers, and response options

Example

Scenario: You receive a text from your partner: 'Hey! So I was thinking about what you said and I totally get where you're coming from. I just think maybe we should take some time to think about things separately.'

What you do: Paste the message, select 'Text message' and 'Partner/Spouse', add context about a recent argument.

Result: Decoder Ring identifies hedging + emotional distancing, reveals the subtext is a request for space without wanting to say it directly, flags the 'totally fine either way' as people-pleasing masking anxiety, and generates 3 responses: 'give space gracefully', 'ask directly what they need', and 'acknowledge and reconnect'.
