Velvet Hammer

Transform furious drafts into professional messages

Transform angry draft messages into professional communication. Type what you really want to say, then get three polished versions that preserve your point while removing the fire.

Overview

Velvet Hammer helps you communicate assertively without burning bridges. When you're furious and need to send a professional message, type your raw, unfiltered thoughts—insults, sarcasm, and all. The tool analyzes your legitimate concerns and rewrites them into three professional variants: Collaborative (assumes good faith), Balanced (clear boundaries), and Firm (direct but professional). Your anger gets validated, your point gets preserved, but the inflammatory language disappears.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste your angry draft message in the 'What I want to say' box—don't hold back
  2. Optionally add context: your relationship to the recipient (boss, colleague, landlord, etc.)
  3. Optionally specify what you're trying to achieve (apology, compensation, behavior change, etc.)
  4. Optionally indicate the power dynamic (you have leverage, you're equals, they have power over you)
  5. Click 'Transform Message' and review three professionally reworded versions

Example

Scenario: Your colleague took credit for your work in a meeting. You want to type: 'You're a backstabbing liar who steals other people's work. This is the third time you've done this and I'm sick of it.'

What you do: Paste that angry message, select 'colleague' as relationship, 'behavior change' as goal, and 'neutral' power dynamic. Generate.

Result: You get three options: Collaborative ('I wanted to address some concerns about project attribution...'), Balanced ('I need to discuss instances where my work was presented without acknowledgment...'), and Firm ('There have been multiple occasions where you've presented my work as your own. This pattern is unacceptable...'). Each preserves your factual claim while removing personal attacks.
