Name a movie, show, book, or game. Plot Hole Finder looks for places where the story's own rules, timeline, character knowledge, or cause-and-effect stop adding up—and separates genuine holes from things the story actually explains.

Overview

Plot Hole Finder is a narrative logic analyst that sorts a genuine contradiction from an unexplained gap, a debatable character decision, or a convenience — then adjudicates only the findings that survive scrutiny. A shorter list of real holes beats a longer list padded to look impressive.

How to use it

  1. Pick media type (Movie, TV Show, Book, Game) and enter the title
  2. Optionally point to a specific scene, rule, timeline issue, or decision that never made sense
  3. Hit 'Find the Plot Holes' to get each finding's type, case, best defense, and verdict, plus a Swiss Cheese Rating
  4. Click 'Defend this hole' on any finding to switch to courtroom-style defense mode
  5. In Defend mode, describe any plot hole and get the strongest possible counter-arguments

Example

Scenario: You enter 'The Dark Knight Rises' and ask how Bruce gets back into sealed Gotham from a foreign prison pit.

What you do: Hit Find the Plot Holes.

Result: Your question gets answered directly first — MAYBE, the story leaves a gap rather than a hard contradiction, since it never establishes that his return is impossible, just unshown. A couple of other findings follow if they hold up, each with its own case, defense, and verdict — plus a Swiss Cheese Rating for the film overall.
