Fan Theory

Wild but defensible fan theories about anything

Name any movie, show, book, or game — AI generates a wild but internally-consistent fan theory with cited evidence. Six theory directions: Surprise Me, Secret Villain, Shared Universe, Timeline Twist, Dead or Alive, and It's a Simulation. Each theory comes with evidence rated from Compelling to Pure Delusion, a Smoking Gun, counterarguments, and plausibility/mind-blown ratings. Second mode: Grade My Theory — paste your own fan theory and get an academic grade with strengths, weaknesses, and a Reddit performance prediction.

Overview

FanTheory generates conspiracy theories for fiction — the kind that make you go 'wait... actually?' Every theory cites specific plot details as evidence and is internally consistent, even when it's a stretch.

How to use it

  1. Enter a title and pick a theory direction (or let it surprise you)
  2. Hit 'Generate Theory' to get a full theory with evidence and ratings
  3. Switch to 'Grade My Theory' to submit your own theory for academic grading
  4. The Smoking Gun is the single strongest piece of evidence — the one that makes people pause

Example

Scenario: Title: 'Toy Story'. Direction: Secret Villain.

What you do: Hit Generate Theory.

Result: Theory: Andy's Mom is actually the true villain — she systematically downsizes the toys' living space across all four films, moving them from a house to smaller and smaller rooms. Evidence: she sells the house (Toy Story 3), repeatedly threatens yard sales, and never once acknowledges the toys' sentience despite clearly seeing them move. Plausibility: 3/10. Mind-blown: 7/10.
