Example
Scenario: You're making chocolate chip cookies but realize you're out of eggs AND butter. The recipe calls for 2 eggs and 1 cup butter. You have applesauce, coconut oil, and Greek yogurt available.
What you do: Go to Multi-Swap, add 'eggs' and 'butter' as missing ingredients, paste the recipe context, and note your available substitutes.
Result: Feasibility: DOABLE. Combined impact analysis: Both subs affect moisture and binding — use coconut oil (¾ cup) for butter (adds slight coconut flavor, melts similarly) + ¼ cup applesauce per egg (adds moisture + binding). Combined technique: Chill dough 30 min longer since coconut oil is softer. Interaction warning: Both subs add moisture — reduce any liquid in recipe by 2 tbsp. Expected result: Slightly chewier cookies with subtle coconut undertone. Then tap 'Teach Me Why' to learn about the 3 jobs eggs do in baking.
Tips
- Upload a photo of your recipe, your pantry, or even the disaster itself — the tool handles all three image types
- Pre-Flight Check uses your saved swaps to suggest substitutes you've already tried and liked
- Flavor Fix works best when you describe what's wrong ('flat', 'one-note', 'missing something') — not just the dish name
- In Kitchen Companion mode, multiple timers can run simultaneously across different steps
- The Wins Journal compounds with pattern insights in History — after 3+ rescues, you'll see your most common issues
- Save lessons to your cheat sheet — they're searchable and build a personal cooking education over time
Common pitfalls
- Multi-Swap with 5+ ingredients may return 'abandon ship' — that's honest, not broken. Some combos just don't work.
- Flavor Fix is for boring food, not broken food — if something went wrong, use Rescue instead
- Kitchen Companion mode is full-screen overlay — tap 'Exit Guide' to return to normal view
- Pre-Flight's time estimates are realistic, not optimistic — plan accordingly
