Small Change, Big Difference

One small change that could make the rest easier.

Walk through a typical day and tell us what you want to improve. Small Change, Big Difference looks for one small adjustment that could make the rest of your routine easier — and gives you a practical way to try it.

Overview

Small Change, Big Difference reasons only from the day you actually describe — it doesn't diagnose you or claim to have found the scientifically optimal bottleneck in your life. It looks for one small, concrete change that occurs at a useful point in your routine and may make later parts of the day easier, and commits to that one experiment instead of handing you a list.

How to use it

  1. Walk through a typical day in honest detail — include the parts that aren't working especially well
  2. Optionally note what you'd like to make better, and where the day seems to go off track
  3. Read what the tool noticed in your routine and the one change it suggests trying
  4. Try the change and use 'What to Watch For' to judge whether it's actually helping

Example

Scenario: Productive some days, derailed others, mornings feel rushed

What you do: Walk through the full day from alarm to bed, including phone habits

Result: What I notice: mornings start with 20 minutes of phone-in-bed scrolling before anything else happens. The small change: charge the phone outside the bedroom. What it may change: removes the easiest way to start scrolling before getting up, which may make the morning feel less rushed. What to watch for: do you actually get out of bed sooner, and does the change create a new problem elsewhere?
